Now released from captivity to relentless rules and regulations and false religious doctrine, do you find that your more liberal outlook is taking you where you want to go? I really need to know! "If the congregation does not submit enough money to cover the value of the books or other materials, they [Society] will actually bill the local congregations for the difference, and if they don't submit the difference, Brooklyn will CUT OFF all literature to that Kingdom Hall."

Brother Rolando R., literature servant formerly of Jersey City West Congregation, writes: "[the Society] noticed an enormous increase in literature orders. The congregation had made purchases of some $3000.00 and our donations were only somewhere around $500.00. They told us that we [the congregation] owed the Society $2300.00." [sic; actually $2500.00-see below]

There was no mention in this letter to Randy about being cut off; however, the congregation received two letters in one envelope from Brooklyn. One apprised the BOE of the balance due, the other, addressed to the congregation, stated that the Society was doing a great work and support was needed! Br. R.R. hence announced to the congregation that they were making a $2500.00 donation to the WWW. [the bad WWW!]

Now Linda is ill!!

first it was her mum in hospital, then it was me, just for a night, though i've been ordered to rest and given 6 weeks off work, and now linda (fullofdoubtnow) is ill. she has a really bad bout of flu, which started yesterday, and i expect she'll be in bed for a few days.

i just fed her some soup, which is about all she can manage at the moment, and she's gone back to sleep now.

she sends her love to everyone on the board,i expect she will be posting again in a few days, but for now, she's confined to bed..

So sorry for all that you and yours have suffered recently! I once thanked Linda for her encouraging words when I was a new Newbie, but, ah, what the heck! Another HUGE thank you, Linda! I was treading uncertain waters here when new, and Linda reassured me all was truly well and I'd be OK. And you know what? I am OK!

I hope your ear pain has subsided; it's one of the worst pains imaginable!

I can relate to comments made by HadEnuf. I will not use relevant detail to describe a formal "gathering" that I recently attended (out of respect to propriety and the innocent attendees). But to paint a picture with broad strokes, suffice it to say, I had to do the "Joseph Thing" to avoid becoming disrobed. Those who observed what one was aggressively doing to me screamed with laughter. All very public. No repercussions, no questions from elders. I'm no prude but I never employ sexual innuendo nor in any way disrespect the fairer sex. I still cannot believe that this happened.

I think I clicked onto this thread from another site and now I'm replying. Like many others, I am in the non-Catholic version of Limbo; I guess we have our own peculiar variety. Betwixt Heaven and Hell. Said too much, but didn't say enough. Almost got caught, but wheedled our way out of a tight spot. It worked for David-he feigned insanity. Except I have no beard to drool onto.

Ironic that at the last CO's visit I attended he proudly stated that there were NO irregular publishers in the congregation. He crowed over that dubious measuring rod of our congregation's superior standing. Making points with you know who (certainly not Jehovah). Well, he certainly did not see my card! No time reported for 11 months now. After six months of no meeting attendance, I have yet to receive a single phone call or inquiry from any of the "company officials". I think they leave me alone because I was "the mouse that roared". And my many active family members are dearly loved and highly respected in the congregation; maybe I'm benefiting from "family merit"!

I am in exile, but like many of you, I am at peace. Peace-that precious commodity that has eluded me my entire life till now, here at JWD. This is as good as it gets.

On Wolfgirl's thread "The Truth About the Donation Arrangement":

Gill comments on the suspension of future literature deliveries if payment is not made to the Society. My original post re the $3000 was when the new arrangement began and publishers went on a book-ordering spree, as I recall it. The Society continues to attach a $-value to the literature. So the $500 the congregation sent was, in their estimation, a fair donation. I'm still looking for that specific article; it could be at the link I gave you earlier. I didn't have time to seek it out.

BOE letter dealing with old sins

is there a letter to the boe that stated that if an elder confessed to having committed a serious sin a number of years ago, (three years or so) and nobody knew about it, he need not be removed?

Hello Masterji,

Naturally it is best to have the printed word in hand to prove a point. I do not. But I have thought back over the years to various articles and key words and phrases that stuck in my noggin. I am absolutely certain of the key words (almost verbatim): 'this type of sin'...'three years'...'minimum'...'before reinstatement'. I am fairly certain of two points: 1) it was a major WT article, and 2) it referenced sexual sins. If you ever saw THE LIST OF ADRIAN MESSENGER, with George C. Scott, you will understand the method of recall of which I speak. I hope this is somewhat on track.

Dear Uwishufish,

Yes; a qualified yes. There will be a link provided for you, I am certain, for the congregation that ordered some $3000 worth of literature but turned in only $500. The Society billed them for the difference. This is off the top of my head and I don't recall the outcome. The figures are ballpark and I don't remember where this occurred. You will be helped soon with accurate information. That's a certainty here at JWD.
